… but not celebrities.
We started October 29th off by walking up to this outdoor food court a couple miles from our hotel. We ended up eating at this breakfast bar called Eggslut. As unscrupulous as the name may have been, the food tasted as if it were made by angels. I had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich, Desirée ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese, and we split an orange juice. At $17.63, it was a bit pricey but that’s to be expected downtown.
Next, we did a few miles hiking through Runyon Canyon Park. The trails led to great views of LA. God does some amazing things and man’s architecture compliments His works well. I saw this guy fall and slide down these steep stone stairs and, at that moment, I decided my part of the trek was over.
After we freshened up and changed clothes, we walked a couple miles to a café called Food Haus. I had one of my all-time favorite simple sandwiches, a tuna melt. It was accompanied by a superb salad topped with watermelon, grapes, tomatoes, and a house vinaigrette.
After lunch, it was time to hop in our Uber car and head to Venice Beach. We walked the boardwalk for a few hours, the most interesting part of which was this old black man who stood and sat on glass. He thought I was going to give him a tip for it just b/c I was black too… Oh ok.
We closed the day out by having dinner and drinks in our hotel room. We got the dinner from a food truck called Danny’s Tacos (AMAZING authentic Mexican food that the concierge suggested) and our drinks came from Targét. The burrito I got was so good that Desirée confiscated half if it. Great end to my day.
