Let’s have an honest discussion about marijuana (For the sake of a lazy Friday, I’m going to just type weed from now on b/c it’s not like this is the most P.C. conversation anyway).
I went to college. Most folks who read this blog went to college. Many of us know people who smoked weed in college. Shoot, some of the folks who read this blog may have smoked it. But the work place is NOT the place to discuss your recreational use of it. You can discuss whiskey. You can discuss cigars. But when it comes to illegal substances (which weed still is on a federal level), you need to make sure your boss(es) and colleagues believe you to be on the “right” side of the law (right is in quotation marks because, in 6 months or 6 years or whenever, when the law is changed, it will no longer be the law, proving that “right” and “wrong” in terms of fluid laws are not really concrete but that’s a whole nother conversation). Anyway, point being, do not run the risk of letting your boss know that you’re breaking the law. You could very well lose your job. Who wants that? Over a conversation about an extendo that you rolled last weekend? How about you just recommend a good whiskey. Or better yet, a good movie. No one ever gets fired over movies.
