What’s That T.I. Song Called Again?

This morning, I’m sitting at work and, while I love my job (to the point that I am looking at making it my career), I was thinking “Can I still do professional development full time?”  Honestly, I’ve been super busy getting my feet wet at the NCCU School of Law for the past month and a half but only because I got a huge project dumped on my desk with a short time frame in which to finish it.  But, when I look at the 24 hours that I have in a day, I realize that I can do both.  I can have whatever I’d like as long as I’m willing to work for it.  8 hours on my career.  8 hours on my business.  2 hours of leisure.  5 hours of rest.  It can be done.  The question is how bad to I want it?

Time management is key.  You don’t have to break the work down in the way I said above.  You could decide to turn your passion into a primarily weekend job.  Whatever works for you, make it work.  You can have the best of both worlds: stability of a 9-5 and the excitement of entrepreneurship.  Just push yourself to want it bad enough.

Make professional development a priority.
