These days, the world is too small for your simple mistakes. Not coming to work. Being late. Failing to prepare. When the only thing you’re consistent in is failing to put your best foot forward, people notice. And then they tell other people. And, unless you want to change regions (and eventually countries) every few years for the rest of your life, you should consider investing a little more time and energy into developing a solid professional reputation. Because, between LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and whatever platform comes next, others will find out just how slack you are. And, once it’s out there on the world wide web, there’s no pulling it back.
After all, it is a small world.
Make professional development a priority.
