I have always believed in meeting people where they are. But I also believe that people are smarter than we give them credit for. Shoot, most people are smarter than they give themselves credit for. The problem is, they’re just lazy. People don’t want to read. They don’t want to take the time to add that comma in or search for how they should indent that paragraph. People will literally tweet/text me to ask me something that Google would be equally equipped to answer. Why? Because we are lazy. And I, for one, will not feed into it. I will keep writing posts that force you to challenge yourselves. I will continue speaking with words that force you to use those wonderful context clues we developed in elementary and middle schools. I’m not challenging you to be smarter. That will come with what I am challenging you to do: to stop being lazy. Put in the work to build your brand. Reading is great. Having a mentor is great. Get inspired. And then create. Define your own legacy, lest you get lost in the dust of someone else’s.
Make professional development a priority.
