This past work week, I’ve been out of town for 4 days, including today. I’m currently in the Windy City. Since I was here within the past 60 days, I decided I’ll opt out of running along Lake Michigan this trip but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to exercise. Traveling throws off my workout routine, there’s no denying that. I can’t follow my regular regiment in the weight room or outdoors. But I can do pushups and crunches when I arrive at my hotel. I can get on the treadmill or hop in the pool (Shucks! I’m actually writing this on the plane as I fly into Chicago and am realizing I forgot my trunks. May have to buy some at Target when I touch down). Either way, the point is that not being in your comfort zone doesn’t give you a reason not to work hard. Just means you have to modify your workouts and take what you can get where ever you are until you can get back to better. But, that’s not just a fitness lesson. That’s life.
Oh, and while I’m on the health kick, it is so difficult to eat healthily on the road but you can find ways to do that too. I personally prefer to book my lodging via Airbnb because, that way, I can cook for myself and save a few dollars while eating better than I would if fast food were the only “affordable” option. Eating out every night isn’t good for you unless you’re eating at Whole Foods or somewhere of the like and, even then, it’s not as good for your pockets as cooking your own meal is.
Make your health a priority.
