What LinkedIn is Not For

I’m on LinkedIn this morning (“this” being Sunday) and I see photos of sorority members dabbing and links to articles on Donald Trump and I thought to myself, “If I wanted to see this, I would have been on Facebook or Twitter.”

Folks, I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again: LinkedIn is a professional networking site.  You share industry articles, infographics, relevant blog posts and book lists.  Maybe even a photograph topped with a motivational quote from time to time.  But you don’t sign on to raise political awareness, share your new favorite song, or gripe about how hard your MBA classes are.  That’s what the other social media outlets are for.  Seriously.  Do it there.  I’m on LinkedIn focused on my professional development and you should be too.  Stop wasting my unlimited wifi.

Make professional development a priority.
