Pay Attention To The Surrounding Factors

When you’re watching movies, don’t just watch the main characters.  Don’t just listen to the dialogue.  Hear the music.  Notice the background character who the camera stays focused on a second longer than everyone else.  That is how you’ll figure out what is going to happen next.

The same is true at work.  Pay attention to the details.  The underlying factors.  Is the work of a consistent quality?  How is the morale?  Don’t look only at whether or not the work is getting done.  Look at how it is getting done.  Develop emotional intelligence.  Ask questions of yourself related to how you would react were you one of your employees.  If you do this, you will be a much better leader.
Make professional development a priority.
