Fight Through

Take the time to examine whatever you are going through and properly catagorize it. My football coach used to ask my teammates and me, “Are you hurt or are you injured?” Being hurt was a part of the game you had to play through. Being injured required some time off the field.

I’ll take it one step further and ask you to distinguish pain from discomfort. If you can’t fight through discomfort, you certainly cannot fight through pain. Actually, as a young professional, you should embrace discomfort because that means you’re stretching yourself. Fight through the discomfort. Push through the pain. And, if ever injured, take some time away from the game to recuperate.

Make professional development a priority.
