Reaching Into the Past

I’m at work right this moment on the phone with my predecessor. He and I are discussing the development program at my school and how, going forward, I can be more successful than he was (and he was very successful). Whenever in a new role, if there is a resource (such as a predecessor) who you can reach out to, do so. No one has ever single-handedly succeeded nor failed. Not Adam nor Eve. Not Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton. Successes and failures are processes that involve everyone associated with situations.

Reach out to those who came before you. If they can, I’d like to believe they’ll help you be the best professional you can be.

Make professional development a priority.
