Drake has an album called “Take Care.” The first track is called “Over My Dead Body.” Now, though this post has nothing at all to do with the lyrical content of Drake’s album, it does center around the fact that, if you do not take care of your body, you will be dead sooner than you’d like.
Last week, Desirée and I had breakfast at this spot on South Beach called Pure Vida (“vida” translates to “life”). Des, having a more adventurous palate when it comes to healthy foods, went with the smoothie bowl. I went with the fruit salad. It was so good that I told myself at that moment that I can do a better job of taking better care of my insides. Sure, I workout 4 days a week and I’ve been eating increasingly better as of late (thanks to the Mrs.) but I can do better. So I will.
This morning, I recreated the fruit salad I had a week ago at Pure Vida. Was it as good? Maybe not. But I did make sure I used fruits that were properly sourced and had no additives. And I paired it with water. A nice shift from my regular weekday breakfast of coffee and a bagel with cream cheese.
You have to take care of your body. Many fitness professionals say that an ideal body (however you define ideal) doesn’t begin in the gym but in the kitchen. So start this evening with dinner and make a habit of it.
Make your health a priority.
