This week, I’ve begun taking an honest inventory of the way I spend my time. There are 24 hours in a day. I choose not to be productive for some of them. I am unable to be productive for others (sleep is a necessity, the only question is how much do we need). Being three months into 2017, I’m sure we’ve all seen certain resolutions go to the wayside. And that’s life. It happens. But just because you fell off doesn’t mean you cannot get back on. If you wanted to write a book, get back to writing. If you wanted to read more, take this weekend to catch up to where you wanted to be three months in. Turn the television off and turn your drive on (and maybe turn on some tunes and the coffee machine if they’ll help).
Your long-term aspirations are important. Important enough to short-term sacrifice your wants.
Make professional development a priority.
