We've all heard some elder say something along the lines of "If it's going to be worth it, it won't be easy." That has never been more true than today. At a time in history when there are more people in the world than ever before with more access to information, having an idea or a talent is not enough. You have to have the work ethic necessary to keep chipping away at a system that is meant to keep those in power in power and those out of it out.
Some people were born with a silver spoon. My guess is that, if you're reading this professional development blog, you're not one of those people. If nothing but an opportunity was given to you, don't squander it all by saying "I'm tired." You're going to be tired anyway. The question is, will you be tired from working for something you have equity in or will you be giving your time to a system that will discard you as soon as you show signs of wear and tear?
Do to capitalism what capitalism does to you: Use it for what you can and then retire it and replace for a system that better serves your needs.
Make investing in yourself a priority.
