Waking up today to NPR and BBC notifications of the act of terrorism committed in Las Vegas reminds me that life could be short and nothing is guaranteed. While I can't just get up and go an irresponsible adventure across the world, I refuse to live unhappily.
I shouldn't be better off simply because I was born to certain parents in a certain state in a certain country. And, if I am better off because of that alone, then I have a responsibility to help make my fellow (wo)man better.

Our trip to New Orleans was jam packed. So jam packed that I looked at my original post and had to truncate it because I had written 1,500 about the first two of our our three days on the ground. There was nonstop fun, music, and culture. So, I’m going to take it easy and give you a photographic rundown of the trip, with captions.
Living is pretty cool like that. It forces you to put things in perspective, see where you've come from, where you are, and realize that, though life has its ebbs and flows, it could always be worse and it will always get better.
